To offer these fabric and products at prices that are more affordable than traditional retailers, I use a “Tupperware Party” model of home sales. Here’s how it works:
- Host a party at your home or mine, day or evening (minimum of 6 people)
Find a group of your friends who are already quilters, beginning to quilt, or simply interested in the finished home décor items. Decide whether you want to have the party at your home or mine (in Kerrisdale). I can bring approximately 100 bolts of fabric to you, or your group can see all 350 bolts if you decide to have the party at my place.
- Select the fabrics you want to focus on yourself, or let me make suggestions
You can preview the fabrics on the web, or you can come to my home to see them first hand. Discuss with your friends the types of fabric they are most interested in viewing… style, colour, design. Work with me to identify the fabrics you’d like to focus on for your party.
- Learn about colour composition
If you and your group are interested, we can start the party with some basic exploration of colour composition and what makes an interesting piece of work. We’ll use a colour wheel tool to work with some examples.
- Share project ideas and tips with your friends
One of the best rewards of this experience is the opportunity to share both project ideas and quilting tips with friends, as a group. Quilting is a lifelong opportunity to learn new things, and a fabric party is a great way to add to your knowledge.
- Receive your choice of fabric free for hosting the fabric party
In addition to the fun of hosting a fabric party that gives you and your friends no-pressure access to hard-to-obtain fabrics, you will also receive your choice of fabric at no charge.
- 1.5 metres of fabric for hosting the party (up to three fabrics totaling 1.5 metres)
- An additional 1 metre of fabric free for every $200 in sales at your party (e.g., if sales total $600, you receive an additional 3 metres of fabric at no charge).
