Boundary Bay Quilt Show May 4-5, New Yoko Saito Fabric, Speaking Next Week

posted Apr 30, 2019, 4:04 PM by Lorna Shapiro
Hi to you all!

I've been travelling for over three weeks and returned home one week ago tomorrow. Travelling is always interesting, but coming home is always wonderful... we are so fortunate to live in the country that we do, and travelling elsewhere always brings to the forefront of my mind an awareness of just how true that is. And it is spring, the most beautiful time of year in Vancouver. I trust you are all enjoying the sun and the warmth.

But before summer kicks in, we have a few very good quilt shows coming up locally, and the next one is this coming weekend.

Boundary Bay Quilters' Guild Show -- May 4,5 10:00 to 4:00 -- South Delta Rec Centre in Tsawwassen

I will be in the vendor mall for this show on Saturday, Sunday... and Susan will be at my home studio for those of you who want to come by there. Here's a bit of a description of what I'll have at the show:

End of bolt clearance fabrics -- $6/M

Tonal solids show special -- $10/M

$10/M show special on traditional Asian prints

A fabulous collection of new colours in Shot Cottons - sale priced

My best ever collection of Cotton/Linens -- from RK and from Japan - sale priced

Wonderful yarn-dyes from Japan - sale priced

3 M cuts of wonderful fabrics specially for clothing - linens, cotton/linens, shots -- 20% off

Clothing Patterns and Quilt Patterns

Notions -- 20% off

New Kits -- also sale priced for the show

And a couple of weeks after that...

Fraser Valley Quilters' Guild Show -- May 17-18 -- FVQG Show Information

I'm madly quilting in order to finish one of my quilts that will be hanging in the show! I'll also be a vendor in the vendor mall.

And then in early June...

Nanaimo Quilters' Guild Show -- June 7-8 -- Nanaimo Quilters' Guild show information

This will be the last show of the season at which I'll be a vendor and I look forward to visiting with my Island friends!

New Fabric -- Yoko Saito's New Line

Lecien Fabrics has come out with a new line from Yoko Saito. I have a bunch of them and am including a few photos. Come see them if you have a new project in mind!

Upcoming Speaking Engagements

I'll be visiting a couple of guilds next week and if you are in the neighbourhood I hope you'll drop in for the meeting:

Vancouver Quilters' Guild -- Wednesday May 8 -- 7 PM -- St. Mary's Church, 37th Ave & Larch St., Vancouver

At this meeting I'll be speaking about designing a quilt focussing on the design element of Shape. It's a fun talk that offers some new ideas for starting a quilt design when we are stuck for inspiration.

Fraser Valley Modern Quilters' Guild -- Thursday May 9 -- 7 PM -- Parish of St. Matthew, 2010 Guildford Dr., Abbotsford

At this meeting I'll be giving a small trunk show and talk about the design process and some useful lessons I've learned about design over the past few years. I'm really looking forward to meeting the members of this guild as I have not attended one of their meetings before.

OK... I think that is it for now. I wish you all a very warm, sunny month of May and I look forward to seeing you at one or more of these shows and meetings!

Lorna
